Dain Soppelsa-Future Plans

I didn’t do anything for training this week besides the McGill Big 3 and walking. I did come up with a game plan over the past week though. I originally wanted to compete at the Arnold in March, but after doing two meets so close together, I have changed my mind. I don’t want to do three meets so close together and risk getting beat up. So, I am going to be going into offseason mode for a bit. I will be looking for a meet in April or May of next year. I am going to continue to work with Zane in my offseason and I will be working on bringing up my weaknesses.

I have also decided that I will do my next meet in the 275 lbs class. I had planned on going back down to 275 lbs in the long run and  I think now is as good of a time as any. Two out of the last three meets that I’ve done, I have weighed in at less than 300 lbs. I’m not even filling out my weight class anymore. It doesn’t make sense for me to continue to lift at 308 when I am under 300 pounds. I would rather be a big 275 than a small 308. I believe I can be more competitive at 275. That’s another reason I want to pass on the Arnold this year is so I have plenty of time to get my weight down.

This will be a good thing for my lifting and my health. I feel good about my decision and plans moving forward.
