Lisa Guggisberg-Offseason-I SQUATTED!

I am currently in offseason mode and looking to do a raw meet sometime in the fall/winter.

[wa-wps]

I squatted! I have been recovering from some minor surgery so my training hasn’t been 100% This past week was the first time I’ve loaded a bar since my surgery over 4 weeks ago.

I kept everything nice and light. RPE of 5 and worked up to 185 for 3×5. It felt good just to squat again.

I did some more lower body accessory work after squats:

  • Belt squat 4 x 15-20 with pause at the bottom
  • Walking lunges 4 x 20 each leg
  • Bulgarian split squats 4 x 15
  • Single leg GM’s 4 x 12

Still not ready to hit bench but I am slowing adding in some upper body movements like light hammer curls and some shoulder work with bands.

I’m taking a complete and much needed deload this coming week via  7 day cruise for my 10 year wedding anniversary.  This will be the first vacation we have taken in about 9 years that is not centered around a powerlifting meet or something to do with powerlifting.  Looking forward to it and then starting to ramp up training when I get back.

A self-proclaimed former high school band nerd turned meathead nerd, Lisa has been coached and mentored by Brian Carroll using 10/20/Life principals for 3 years. She started CrossFiting in 2006 but gave that up after realizing all she wanted to do was squat, bench and deadlift heavy. She now competes as a raw and multi-ply powerlifter in the 114 and 123 weight classes. Lisa has All-Time top 10 totals in both raw and multi-ply in her respective weight classes with a raw pro total of 936 lbs at 114 and a pro 1118 lb multi-ply pro total at 123 and 1090 lb multi-ply total at 114. She is currently ranked the #1 female multi-ply lifter at 123, #2 at 114 multi-ply female and #3 raw with wraps. Lisa has a B.A. in Political Science and a Masters in Public Administration, but hates politics and political debates. She is a mom of two, a firefighter wife and has worked as a full time litigation paralegal for almost 20 years.
