Byrd: 6 Weeks Till Spring Football

Life has taken a big change for me in the last few months. Back at home in NC, teaching special education, and now a head high school football coach! We have a long way to go to rebuild to program, but both myself and the kids seem to be up to the task!

We are now working on a training program I have laid out, using 10/20/Life training philosophies. The students have really bought in, and come in after school daily for some work on individual weak points. We also work on football specific stuff as we creep towards spring football. We have become a good bit stronger, but like anything you can always be stronger!

This weeks main movements are 5×4@75% in the squat, bench, and hang clean. I am still working on developing proper deadlift form, and won’t let them push the movement yet. Todays training looked like this

5×4@75%
5×5 pin press from chest height
3×8 incline dumbbell press
3×8 dumbbell fly
3×8 dumbbell over head extensions
3×8 skull crushers
3×8 curl bar curls
3×8 hammer curls

The students that came in after school did some ploy style push up variations and worked on footwork. Tomorrow, weather depending we will be out on the field after school working on the install of a new offense. I will start getting some weekly video for those of you who enjoy watching their progress.
