Dain Soppelsa Training Log for Offseason Week of 2/4/18-2/10/18

I recently competed in the RPS Live Large Fall Brawl in North Canton, OH where I totaled 2,341 in the 308 class. I am currently in offseason mode. Zane Geeting is handling my programming. I will be competing in May in the 275 weight class.

Day 1 Squats/DL

Warm-up: McGill Big 3, Goblet Squats

Squat: Raw: 315 x 8 x 3 (RPE 6)

Sumo DL: Raw: 315 x 8 x 3 (RPE 6)

Close Stance Squat: 8 x 3 (RPE 6)

Barbell Row from floor: 225 x 8 x 5

Leg Curl: 5 sets

DB Shrugs: 15 x 5

Two Finger Plate Pinches: 3 sets

 

Day 2 Bench Press

Warm-up: McGill Big 3, Band Flyes

Bench: Raw: 225 x 8 x 3 (RPE 6)

Seated DB OHP: 8 x 5

Side Laterals: 12 x 4

Lat Pulldowns: 8 x 5

Band Pushdowns: 100 reps

Two Finger Plate Pinches: 3 sets

 

I am playing around with hook grip on my deadlifts. This week was my first time trying it. It’s unpleasant, but I’m excited about the prospect of being able to do it. My grip has been my limiting factor for years and I’m open to just about anything that could help me fix that issue.

I didn’t get my day 3 training in this week. Our second car crapped out. So I was running around all weekend addressing that issue. No worries. That’s what he offseason is for. If I happen to miss a training session occasionally, life goes on. Other than that, I can’t complain much. Life goes on.
