30 Aug Dan Dalenberg | Contest Prep- SQ/DL | 9 weeks out
On October 29th, I will be lifting in my second ever multi-ply meet. I will be lifting in Danny Dague’s RPS meet in Columbus, Ohio. Brian Carroll has handled all of my off-season and contest prep training since the Arnold and will continue to guide me through the meet.Â
[wa-wps]This session didn’t go so well…
Everything during the day was as normal. Eating, hydration, sleep all fine. I did work outside on Sunday and woke up pretty light (hot and muggy up here and I sweat horribly), so maybe that had something to do with it.
1. Squat- Full Gear, 75% for 4 Doubles
Raw warm-ups were fine. Briefs were fine, but when the straps went up it went bad. Got the first set done ok, despite feeling way off on the unrack. Came back around for the second set and unracked it 3 times, feeling awful 3 times in a row and reracking without taking any reps before throwing in the towel.
Each unrack felt like my hips were way forward and like I would never be able to sit back at all. Rather than put one on my spotters I put the bar away.
It was very frustrating to have a session go like this. The bar weight was ~700, 100 pounds less than my raw PR. So not being able to get it out of the rack properly was beyond frustrating. I got pretty worked up about it, got out of my gear and decided to just help Dain get through the rest of his training for the night and save it for another day.
Can’t afford to do that again really at this point, not enough weeks left. Hopefully next week goes a little better!
