Dan Dalenberg | Off season Week 7 | SQ/DL

I recently lifted at the Arnold Classic XPC meet where I totaled 1955, benched 500 raw and pulled a PR deadlift. Off season training has started after a nice long deload. I’m going back to what has worked the absolute best for me, having Brian Carroll handle writing my programming.

Change of pace tonight with squat and deadlift. Making some good progress here towards this fall’s goals.

1. Box Squat- 5’s to RPE 6

Up through 375. Figuring out a wider stance to work. I am shifting a fair amount to my right, which I think is partly because my hips and groin are super tight and partly because my right foot is rolling to the outside a lot. Paul and Brian both pointed that out. I think the solution might be to point my toes more to the outside.

2. Paused Sumo Deads- Top set of 5 at RPE 6

Top set at 405. This took a lot of sets to get to, to actually do it right. Hips were smoked after.

3. Piston Squats- 3 x 8

4. Single Leg DL

5. Stir the pots

The wide stance work is a challenge for me. I have squatted narrow for so long and always pulled conventional. I know the work is needed and will be beneficial but will certainly take time to get right.
