27 Mar Dan Dalenberg | Powerbuilding Offseason | Wk2, Day 1
I recently lifted at the Arnold XPC Finals. This was my first meet at 220 since 2010 where I managed a 955 squat, 675 bench and 675 deadlift for a 2305 total and lightweight best lifter win. Now that the meet is over and I won’t be competing again until the fall I am taking my first of two offseason blocks to train more like a bodybuilder and look better than Paul Oneid.Â
This session was on the road. Chris had a meet just outside of Chicago so Cody and I stopped at Illiana Power Asylum in Hammond, Indiana on the way there. IPA is a sweet gym, equipped with everything a powerlifter needs in bars, rack, benches, monos, etc. Some good machines too and huge multi-station cable stack. Being right off the interstate it made for an easy stop.
Squat-Â 5 x 8 @ RPE 6
I used a spider bar for this and got my butt kicked. Its almost impossible to be fast on this bar since it swings around so much. Top set was 365.
Deads-Â Block Pull, RPE 6 5 x 5
Top set is in the video, at 495
Accessories
Hack squats- 5 x 15
Single Leg DL- 5 x 12
Leg Extension- 5 x 20
The Meet
Chris lifted in the APF Illinois state meet. He had a great day going 9/9 with PRs across the board and his first 1600+ total. The meet itself was ran very well, 195 lifters over two days and two platforms. I think the lifting on Sunday was done at around 4:30pm or so, very efficient! It was like two meets running along side each. Pretty cool to see how it all worked.
