05 Aug Dan Dalenberg- SQ/DL training 8/4 and Meet Directing
Week 14 Squatting and Deadlifting
Nice to get back under the bar. Body feels great and weights moved fast. Wore Overkill wraps for the first time when moving anything reasonably heavy. I really like these wraps. Good balance of stretch and cast, thin and easy to handle as a result. Little more painful than some other wraps but even with a medium wrap they felt very powerful.
Squat- Doubles to 80%
Worked up to 2 doubles at 605. Brian recently had me change my foot angle. Small change but feels very strong. Need to think a little more about keeping the knees out but otherwise very happy.
Deads- 2 x 2 at 7RPE
Kept my pulls a little lighter. 500 for two sets.
Sumo Pulls- 3 x 3
315 x 3 x 3
Low Box Squats- 3 x 3
325 x 3 x 3
McGill Big 3- 20 of each
Meet Directing
Last winter I met Ezra Salmon and have been helping him out with his meets a fair amount this year. He and Joe Smolinski are the APF state chairs in Michigan and asked me take a little off their plates and run two meets a year for them. So I will be directing a push/pull meet in January and then a full power meet next fall.
Ezra and Joe run a professional meet. Very well put together. Seniors was in an excellent venue and had the best warm up room I have ever seen. As well as several thousand dollars worth of brand new equipment. I am honored that they asked me to be a part of their team and am looking forward to putting on meets with them.
January 10th is the first one! It will be in the Kalamazoo, MI area, pretty sure on venue but don’t have it locked in yet. I will definitely have 3 of everything in the warm up room and will be working hard to live up to the standard they have set.
