21 May Danny Vega – RPS Redemption meet prep wrap up
I am training for the RPS Redemption/XPC Qualifier on May 30, 2015. I will be competing in the classic raw 220lb weight class.
Today I hit my deadlift opener to wrap up this meet prep. I can honestly say that this has been my best meet prep yet. With the exception of some shoulder and elbow issues, I made it through without any injuries.
The shoulder thing did hurt my bench, but 1) I’m still learning how to perfect my form and 2) I’ll still hit a modest PR. That’s a win in my book, especially since my unwrapped squat and deadlift have gotten much stronger.
I’m really pumped to share the platform with my team and best friends. This next week is brutal between the anticipation and the cutting. But come meet day, I’ll be ready to hit some nice PRs. I’m nowhere near where I wanna be but I’m happy with my progress this last year. Here’s how I wrapped up this meet prep:
Monday
Squat 55*8,8, 145*6, 235*5, 325*3, 415*2, 505*1, 550*1 opener
Wednesday
Bench 45*15, 135*8, 175*5, 215*3, 255*2, 295*1, 350*1 opener (smoke show), 380*1 good speed. Probably will go 390 second attempt
Thursday
Deadlift 135*5, 225*3, 315*2, 405*1, 495*1, 600*1 opener
Ready to put it all together on May 30th.
