Ken Whetham: First time squatting 1K in training

I didn’t feel the greatest training this weekend, I caught some type of bug but managed to salvage a training session that has given me confidence moving forward.

1005 lb Squat

It wasn’t the greatest start to my day.  I knew I was supposed to have a heavy squat session today and I woke up with some severe chest congestion and head cold.  I took some decongestant, did a ten minute walk and started my McGill warm-ups.

I started to get a sweat on, and headed into the bathroom to relocate my breakfast into the toilet dispensary.  Needless to say I was a little concerned about my session but I thought I would see how it went.

McGill carries/McGill Warm-up

Beltsquat:

290 x 10/10

380 x 10/10

Barbell Squat with Mastadon

345 x 3 (Predator Briefs)

435 x 2

525 x 2

615 x 1

705 x 1 (Add Ultra Leviathan Pro)

795 x 1

Our plan was to do 900/950/1005 Reverse Bands today:

I wasn’t feeling close to 100% so I decided to try 905 with Mini bands and see how it felt.

It felt OK.

I decided to go to 1005 with the reverse average bands to get a feel for the weight and see how it felt.

It felt pretty good and moved OK so I was happy that I was able to squat 1K with reverse bands when I wasn’t feeling close to 100% today.

That was it, I shut it down.
