LCS Benching April 27, 6 Weeks Out

Lowcountry Strength has started meet prep for the upcoming RPS Backyard Bash in NC on June 9th.  Lots of different things going on right now.  The team is progressing well through the prep while I’m working with Zane Geeting for my training.  Pretty cool to see quite a few different things happening for all the folks here.

As always, a big thanks to Inzer Advance Designs and Captain Jacked for their continued support of TeamPRS.

Check out the PowerRackStrength shop for shirts, hats, books, and other goodies.

This was a good one.  Lots of good stuff happening here despite a few issues finding the groove.  Overall I was pretty happy with today.

Bench- shirt- 3 board- 80%x3, 2 board- 85%x2, 3 board- 90%x2

I misgrooved the shit out of the 2nd rep of 90%.  Completely misgrooved it.  Had to fight to finish it but managed it.  I’m working really hard to pushing back off the bottom and with the shirt jacked well enough, it just completely pushed me right out of position.  I thought I could force it back in on the way down but just couldn’t manage it.  Still got it clean, but I know it could have been better had I been a bit more patient.

4 board- shirt- mini bands- 3×3 (RPE 8)

These look fast but holy shit they’re rough.  Bumped the weight a bit from last time.  It’s always interesting with bands because it’s like you don’t feel them…

you don’t feel them…

holy shit I felt that!

DB bench- 5×10

Chest supported row- 5×10

Band pushdowns- 100 total reps

The rest of the training day was just on auto pilot.  Shirted benching always completely takes it out of me.  Mentally and physically.
