LCS squat diversity

So I posted our squat/pull training on Tuesday.  Here’s a little bit of the diversity and things that I have each of these lifters focusing on.  These are some of my geared lifters and my raw folks can be just as diverse.

Dub squatting here.  Dub bounces back and forth between geared and raw competitions based on how hectic his life can get.  Our current goal is to jack up his raw squat.  We’re using loose briefs and keeping it within his raw stance.  He’s got a pair of briefs on that are about 2 sizes too big.  If he concentrates hard on the decent, he gets some tightness out of them.  This carries over since he can have a tendency to get loose in the bottom of his raw squat.  As we progress further along, I’ll move him into some paused squats in briefs to solidify his bottom position.

This is Steve.  Steve is working straps up.  He’s only done one full gear meet and prior to that had only competed raw.  The goal for this training cycle is to work up close to his old full gear max in just the suit.  We’re working on his stability at the top and proficiency when we toss the straps up.

Nic has all kinds of issues with stability at the top.  He’s a tremendously wide stance squatter and that can lead to stability issues.  By using the cambered bar, we can force a little more control while at the same time getting him to work harder on getting his upper back tighter the whole time.

Billy is our oldest crew member.  Dude can get after it like no one else.  He’s hit his best squat in just the LUP squat suit.  We’re working on getting him more comfortable in briefs to add a bit of pop out of the bottom.  We’re also working on his ability to get his knees out.  It’s hard to tell with this angle but we’re forcing his stance out wider and really getting him to work pushing those knees out from the top but especially at the bottom where he tends to lock up and get caught forward when he doesn’t open the hips up.
