15 Jan Lisa Guggisberg: Offseason-Trial, Deload and Some Deep Thoughts
I am currently in offseason mode. I plan on competing in April at the Women’s Pro Am where I will be competing raw.
So this week really was a true deload for me. Since I am a trial/litigation paralegal I am required to attend trials. Trust me it’s not as exciting as you think it is. It is however extremely stressful and can be an emotional cortisone rollercoaster of a ride. It’s also always good when you win, which we did, so I get to keep my job for a little while longer.
I was pretty much stuck at the courthouse and couldn’t train. When the day was over I was so exhausted both mentally and physically I don’t think I could’ve trained.
What I did realize is that I do love my job and that I am very thankful that I have kept my back healthy so that I can train. Our client suffered a severe, permanent back injury when he got hit by a car walking across a cross walk at a donut shop. Yeah, I know that could be anyone of us! Everyone loves donuts right?? In an instant life changed. Anyways the point is that our client couldn’t do the things he loved anymore because his back injury and he was just miserable. It made me realize how thankful I am that sought out Brian Carroll as a coach, corrected some form issues and stopped over training before I injured myself.
Back to normal this week. Other than some tight hips from sitting on a hard bench at the courthouse the deload came at a perfect time and I’m ready to finish up this offseason and looking forward to MEAT prep.
