31 Mar Lisa Guggisberg -Week 2 of Meet Prep 3/28/15 Squats and Deadlifts
I am currently getting ready for the RPS Redemption/XPC Qualifier on May 30, 2015 in Fort Meyers, FL. I am staying at the 114lb weight class but going in wraps for the first time.
I am in full swing of meet prep. I am about 8 weeks out. This was the first week I felt any weight on my back since RUM VIII. I didn’t go over 50 % during my 5 week offseason and worked just form. I was a little nervous that the weight would feel heavy but after the first few reps knew I that was just musings of a silly, little, girl. It felt great to be under some weight again. Those 5 weeks of light weight and tedious form corrections was exactly what I needed. You don’t always have to go full throttle to make progress.
Lots of volume this week.
McGill big 3 (Birddog, rolling plank, McGill crunch)
Goblet squats 2×20
Piston Squats 2×20
Sumo stance (Pulling opposite of my traditional stance)
Pause Squats at a RPE of 7 for 3×6
One legged Good mornings with kettlebell 3×15
I was toast after all this. My lower half told me to go the fuck home after this. Dragged myself inside and planted my ass on the couch. I let the kids run wild; I was a useless sack of poo. Those little hellions could have set the house on fire and I don’t think I would have gotten off that couch.
