Paul Oneid – Paused Squats

I am currently in a VERY long off-season.  Mentally and physically, I needed a break.  I have lots on the go over the next few months business wise, not to mention that I will be getting married, so I am using this time to my advantage.  I am still working with Jon Byrd for my training and Tucker for my diet and feel stronger than ever.  Lots of time to work and lots of improvements to be made.  My next meet will be the EPC (IPL) Finals December 9, 2017 up here in Montreal, QC. I’ll be lifting knee sleeves only at 220lbs.

The strength is coming fast!  The transition to flats is going better than I ever expected, to be honest.  Tons of power out of the bottom, better depth, and my balance is much improved.  Excited to see how this translates to competition squat.

My heaviest top set today was 5 reps, paused at RPE 7, with a weight 15lbs lighter than my best 4 reps without a pause at RPE 8 from last off season.  Safe to say I am much stronger and there is still 6 months left of off-season! The video above was my second to last top set, and was a quite sloppy.  I cleaned it up on the last one, but unfortunately my phone ran out of memory.  Could not be more pleased with the way things are going.  That all being said, as I write this I am crippled lol.  The DOMS is real with all this paused work!
