the in season template which i know isn’t set in stone but more less a guide line or can be ran as is , on week 8 it is suggested on your last set to work up to 99% or around a third attempt is how i’m interpenetrating it I’ve never worked up to third or near a third leading into a meet i was wondering whats everyone experience working up to 99% before the meet?
When I first switched over to 10/20/Life, the idea of going so heavy leading up to the meet made me nervous too, but trust me it works out just right. You have to trust the process. I will say that it’s important not to go to failure if at all possible. You want to try to get as close as you can to your 3rd attempt without failing. Don’t be afraid to go a little conservative if things don’t feel great during your session. I like to utilize reverse bands as well. It’s a way to get some overload and get heavy weight on your back without getting the full load. It helps a lot with confidence as well. You’ll have to see how you feel.
One thing you really have to understand (which it seems like you do) is that it is a guide for you. I often use a reverse band set up during this time frame for both myself and my lifters. That is not to say its a must, but I have found it to be a good option. Something you also need to factor is are you picking good attempts in training. How has the training cycle gone? There are a lot of factors that come into play over the last few weeks of the training prep. Pick a safe number, and dont blow a good training prep. Remember its what happens on the platform that matters.
