this ones kinda dumb but may as well just ask.
If unable to do pull ups can the lat pull down be utilized as a substitute or should other back exercises just be used.
Not a dumb question: depends – in most cases there are better movements than a machine in ANY case.
The lat pulldown isn’t a substitute for pull ups. It is a nice accessory to help build the pull ups but it won’t/can’t replace it. You can do assisted pull ups with bands, jumping pull ups (to get to the top) and a slow negative.
