hey Brian big fan. I was wondering if you recommended an intermediate to train the squat and pull in the same workout. I only train 3 days a week and I like to bench mondays auxiliary Wednesday and squat deadlift Friday

Hello Isaac,
Thanks for the question. In 10/20/life I have a few different training split templates, and one of them is the combo day. I don’t know if you have read the book, but your split is pretty identical. https://shop.powerrackstrength.com/products/10-20-life-second-edition
The answer: it depends. If you have a lot of miles on your body, then yes, the extra recovery is good. If you are young and healthy, then having your own deadlift day is probably ideal.
Thank you.
Hi Isaac!
squatting and pulling in the same day (combo day in 1020life talk) can be really beneficial. It’s great for recovery, and to get a sense for what kind of deadlift numbers would be realistic on a meet day, because you’ll get to try it after squatting. There’s no be all and end all though, and it can be helpful to alternate between giving dead’s and squats their own day, and putting them together in a day.
