12 Dec Team Samson Powerlifting – Meet Prep Has Begun
Stan, Jason and Nick are currently prepping for the SPF Daytona Classic on February 16. We have known for a couple of weeks that there is also some sort of racing event going on that weekend. Something called the Daytona 500, ever hear of it? We’re hoping that the meet gets pushed back a week since it is held in a gym. Trying to get into and stay in Daytona the weekend of the 500 seems like a nightmare. Everyone else is in offseason with no definite meet plans.
Saturday the gym was full. Every Samson member was there along with an out of town guest. It was a little chaotic and I wasn’t able to keep up with what everyone did. Squats were once again split between two mono lifts, one with the bulldog bar and one with a safety squat bar. The three of us in meet prep are a good example of 10/20/Life being a philosophy and not a program. Jason is doing singles for all three lifts throughout. Nick is following the combo meet prep from the book since it is his first time running it. Stan is using singles for squat and deads but up to triples for bench. We pulled off of 2″ blocks following our programmed reps. Jason and Nick are lifting raw. Stan has been trying out a few suits for deads and finally found one that is working well. It is a two ply Inzer Max DL and is very easy to get into position in.
Monday night was not as full with a few people missing. Clint is still working floor press with Brian. Felipe and Shane used a straight bar. Those in meet prep used the bulldog bench bar. Nick for triples, Stan for doubles and Jason for singles. We followed up main work with close grip board presses, incline db press and grenade tricep extensions.
