17 Jul Team Samson Powerlifting: Special Guest
Week of July 9th:
Week started off with a fairly light day for bench. Of the guys that were there, it was either deload or working on technique and assistance bench with bands. No need to bore you with the bench day fluff, the big day at the gym was on Saturday. Team Samson had a special guest out, Tom Myslinski, who is the Jacksonville Jaguars strength and conditioning coach and has been with the Jaguars since 2012. Tom also brought out his son, Mike, to come out and get some work in with us. Mike, who is heading into his sophomore year at Bishop Kenny, plays RG, just like his dad did in the NFL.
Saturday started off with a team breakfast at Terry’s (Tom and his son Mike joined us) and from there we went out and started lifting. Here is what everyone did:
Brian Carroll: You can check out his log post Here
Adam Driggers worked up to 415 on the Camberde bar on squats and then pulled 315×3 off of blocks.
Don Blue hit a HUGE raw squat on Saturday as he worked up to 705×1 and then worked on hip mobility with the belt squat.
Clint Smith is still nursing a sore knee, so he took it easy and worked on light kettlebell work with his knee and then worked on deadlifts. Clint worked up to 590×1 off of the blocks for deads.
Filipe Gusmao worked up to a BIG 535×1 on squat. Ended the day with 405×1 on deads before his glute started bothering him. (Filipe tore his glute last year.)
Shane Ford worked up to a HUGE 605×1 on squats on Saturday and ended the day pulling 545×2.
Mike Holman worked on box squats and then worked up to 495×1 on deadlifts off the blocks.
