Tucker – On the road

I’ve been driving and sight seeing for five days and am finally home in Oregon seeing family and friends. It’s been about two weeks since I’ve worked out too…. and two weeks since I’ve been on any kind of a good diet.

[wa-wps]

While driving my daily intake was usually nothing at all in the morning besides a strong coffee or part of one of those pre workout samples I’ve got a zillion of to wake me up and get me going. After a few hours I’d stop at a gas station and get a granola bar and maybe some string cheese or fruit or something and have a little protein shake on the way. Eventually at some point I’d stop and get a sandwich at a grocery store, or if there was a subway I’d get a sub or salad. There was some other stuff mixed in – Greek yogurt cups, ice cream, hard boiled eggs etc. but those were rare.

I was pretty close to fasting for one or two of the days. I started driving around 9-10am and didn’t actually eat anything besides a protein shake until 3-4pm. I’m not really sure why I decided to eat so little, I guess I was just curious about what would happen and how I would feel. In the past I would have made a much bigger deal of the situation and have a cooler with several meals for each day, but this time I just let it roll and had fun seeing if my body changed at all.

As for the result, I definitely learned something. It’s amazing seeing the resilience of the body – everyone thinks it’s so easy to lose muscle, but clearly it’s not from the pics I’ve posted. Sure, I’m deflated, but it’s not like I’ve wasted away in under a week.

I’ll get back to lifting tomorrow and just do a couple full body workouts in order to get some blood back in the muscles and prepare them for more intense training coming next week.
