24 Jan Tucker: Release!
What a stroke of luck! Not only have I been able to start lifting more seriously lately, but I had a big breakthrough right after my last physical therapy appointment.
My PT, Mr. Bradley Evsich, and I followed up with more core work and some various tests to see my progress, and then at the end he decided to do some manual therapy to get my lats to loosen up. I didn’t think it would be of much help at the time, but a few hours later I felt a huge release in my left lat, trap, rhomboid and shoulder area. My right shoulder has been my main concern because of its injury and weakness, but for a while my left side was all jacked up by being tight and stiff and pinching a nerve in my brachial plexus. I could never loosen it up because when I’d stretch it I’d get a shooting pain down to my fingers…. No more! This time my shoulder opened up, and although still very stiff, it was much more manageable than it had been in the past. My left shoulder wasn’t stuck back and so immobile anymore, it could move forward much better than it had been able to in the past.
Over the last couple days since I’ve gained more mobility in my shoulder, the extra movement has moved all the way down my torso. I could feel my left hip opening up all the way down to my inner thigh, and my right side was engaging much better.
Funny how those things work. I already was feeling like I was making progress, but this sealed it up for me. Slowly but surely, my body is getting healthier.
