Zane Geeting, Back to training, sorry for the gap in posting.

[wa-wps]

I’m currently in an off season training cycle. I’ve had some recent personal issues that have kept me out of the gym for a couple weeks. Nothing for anyone to be concerned about, just some things I needed to get handled, and still need to get handled. I am back to training and working through them at this point.

Training for the week of 5/9/2016…

This was my first week back in the gym after a couple weeks off. I started back with 2 sessions and kept things light and easy to get back into the swing of things. Here’s what I did…

5/10/2016, Tuesday night bench training

This session was light, just working on getting the blood flowing. It went like this:

Warm up

McGill big 3, side laterals, scarecrows

Bench

45×25, 135×15, 185×10, 205x10x3 sets

DB bench

50’s x15, 60’s x15, 70’s x15, 80’s x15

Side laterals

3 sets of 15 reps

Lat pulldowns

5 sets of 15 reps

Rope pushdowns

3 sets of 10 reps and 1 drop set with 2 drops

– That was it. Quick session. Watched my wife pull like a boss. She worked up to something like 305×2 from the floor and 335×2 off a 4″ block. Her DL is looking great, I’m excited to see what she pulls at her June meet.

5/13/2016, Friday night squat training

My legs were feeling skinny and weak after not having squatted in 3 weeks. I did my typical warm up and some accessories up front to get some blood pumped into the legs before squatting as I have been quite a bit this off season. This isn’t typical of the 10/20/Life training style, but its something that I wanted to experiment with a bit in the off season. I probably wouldn’t prescribe this for anyone else’s training unless 1. It works very well for me at the end of this cycle, and 2. They had a major leg weakness that had to be brought up. Anyhow, here’s what I did:

Warm up

McGill big 3, cat/camel, BW squat

Leg extensions

2 warm up sets of 20 reps and 3 working sets of 20 reps

Leg curls

1 warm up set of 20 reps and 3 working sets of 15-20 reps

SS bar beltless squat

155×10, 245×10, 295×10, 335×10

Good girl

3 sets of 20 reps

Bad girl

3 sets of 20 reps

– That was it. Quick one again. Just getting back into the swing of things. The squats felt pretty good strength wise, but my energy levels were in the tank. Hoping this improves in the coming weeks. I’ll get some video’s and so forth next week. Stay tuned for that.
