Zane Geeting, last 2 training sessions and another year older

I’m currently recovering from some GI issues which resulted in the removal of my gallbladder and some significant diet changes. I’m training with a 2x per week split as I normally do in the busy summer months. Things are going very well thus far.

The following is the 2nd session of week 2 and the 1st session of week 3. Things are still quite light, but are progressing well, and I can tell my body is rebounding as I was hoping. Here’s what they looked like:

7/8/2016, Friday night squat and bench training

This was my 2nd session for both lifts in quite some time, so I took them both about 5% higher than the previous session, and added a little more overall volume. Here’s how training went:

Warm up

McGill big 3, BW squat, Scarecrows, Cat/Camel

Squat

warm up, then… 360x5x2 sets, 390×5, and 400×5

Bench

warm up, then… 235x6x4 sets

Walking lunges

3 trips with DB’s, up to the 50’s

Rolling DB tri extensions

1 warm up set, then… 40’s x12x3 sets

  • That was the end of that one. I was happy with the way the session went. The squats were belt only and the bench raw as well. Everything is light and moving as it should.

7/12/2016, Tuesday night DL and OHP training

Tuesday night was my first training session at 33 years old. Yes, I’m only 33, Yes, I know I’m haggard as hell for my age, Thank you. I got to the gym late for this one, around 9p.m. so I had to hustle to get everything in before the other guys had to get out of there, since they start between 7:30 and 8:00p.m. Here’s what I did:

Warm up

McGill big 3, Cat/Camel, BW squat

Deadlift (Speed/Form pulls)

Warm up, then… 425×8 singles.

Standing OHP

Warm up, then… 185×4, and 195x4x3 sets

Rack rows

Warm up, then… 225×8, and 275x8x2 sets

DB shrugs

100’s x20x3 sets

  • The end. Short session, but exactly to plan. I’m pulling pretty much every week, which most of you who read my log know is way more than usual. I’m keeping the intensity lower than normal to see how this treats me. No better time than the off-season to experiment with things like this. So far, so good. I’ll be squatting Friday night and getting some video so I can see how form and depth are looking, stay tuned for that.

As a renaissance man, he is also currently restoring a 140 year-old farmhouse and maintaining a hobby farm.
