Dan Dalenberg | End of Off Season | Bench

I recently lifted at the 2017 Arnold XPC finals where I totaled 2370, via 940, 700, 730. I am in the middle of a long off season leading up to a fall full meet.

This was a rough night of benching, completely self induced. I’ve been wanting to try a tighter shirt and got the chance to try out a size 52 SDP. Several people told me it would be too small and I would never get in it, so of course that made me want to try even more!

They were right. But not as right as expected. I could almost get it on, the arm opening just wasn’t quite big enough to let me pull the shirt all the way on. If I could have pulled it up a little farther, I think I could use it. But since it was riding so low, the shirt handcuffed me pretty bad. A custom “size 53” might be the perfect one. No matter though! I have a 54 that works very well. I might just need to snug the sleeves up a little.

Bench- Single at 9RPE

Opted for the 2 board since I spent way too much time messing with the smaller shirt and was already pretty wore out. Worked up to a decent 655. Considering my last contest prep where I only handled 550 or so in the off season, I am happy with this.

And that was it! Ice on the elbows and called it good for the night.
