08 May Dan Dalenberg | Off season | SQ/DL
I recently competed at the 2017 Arnold XPC Finals where I went 8/9, squatting 940, benching 700, pulling 730 for a 2370 total at 242 multi-ply. I will be transitioning into a long offseason that will include a deadlift only meet in the middle of it.Â
[wa-wps]This was a very good night of training. My squat and pull are coming along nicely and I think I have made some good progress since the Arnold.
Squat-Â 7 RPE, doubles, buffalo bar, briefs
I wore my tighter triple ply size 36 predators for this work. Put them on at 415 and moved 415 approximately 3.4 inches. Gonna need a little more weight…
505, 595 and 685 all very easy. 685 was still high but getting much closer. Went 775 after and ended up just taking a single. I got out of position pretty bad and decided it was time to be done, to save it for another day.
Deads- Deload
I was supposed to deload my pulls and do some speed work. I wanted to try pulling in this briefs so I kept it light and experimented some.
Last year, I added briefs to my DL setup and loved it. The only problem was that my 38s aren’t as tight and flair out just a bit at the quad. This meant that the bar would catch on them and hang me up. My thought was that the 36s are so much tighter that I shouldn’t get hung up.
I think I was right! I think these will be great to pull in. I know the weight is light but it felt very good and I was able to get to the bar without issue.
Finished up
Did some raw pause squats and called it a night.
