02 Nov Dan Dalenberg- Training Partner Highlight
This past weekend I went down to Columbus, Ohio to help out teammate Beth Thomas and training partners Kelly Parker and Dain Soppelsa. All three were lifting at Danny Dague’s fall RPS meet.
The Meet
Well I thought the judging and meet director could have… Come on, LAUGH if you get it. It’s a joke.
Danny runs a good meet, enough said.
Beth Thomas
I won’t steal her thunder, I’m sure she will post a write up here shortly. She did very well, had a good day and posted a PR total. Smart attempts were made and she executed extremely well.
This was the first time I have really had a chance to play with the new Leviathan and help adjust it. I’m a geek and nerded out thinking about the possibilities. Being able to tighten her suit for each squat and deadlift attempt brought a new dimension that I hadn’t seen before.
Dain Soppelsa
Dain had a phenomenal day. He went 7/9 and ended up with a 2300 pound total consisting of a 920 squat, 700 bench and 680 deadlift. Close call on his 3rd pull of 720; his hand tore and he dropped it. With how fast it was moving I have no doubt that he is strong enough. A few small improvements and some gear that actually fits correctly and Dain will be set to hit a big total at the Arnold in March.
Kelly “Half Breed” Parker
Kelly lifted push/pull and had a decent day. Benched 470 raw for a small PR and pulled 625. He had 655 moving really well but couldn’t hold on to it. 4/6 day, left a bit out there but quite frankly to still be making positive progress at 46 years old is awesome. I know he wasn’t real happy with it, but I think he has made a good amount of progress since his summer meet and is definitely moving in the right direction.
Fun weekend, glad I was able to make the trip and see my friends do well.
