Dan Dalenberg | Week 13 | SQ/DL

Training for the XPC/RPS Atlantic City meet on August 29th. I will be lifting raw with wraps at 242.

This was an interesting training session… It went ok but a little mishap in the middle of squatting about ended my day.

Squat- 80%- 2×2

Worked up to 640 for 2 doubles. I was short 2 guys due to vacations, so I had to recruit a guy to run the mono while Randall spotted. On the first double the guy swung the hooks in but didn’t lock them. Not expecting the hooks to swing I had to take an awkward stutter step to stay upright. Thankfully Randall did a good job and got me in the rack.

Second set went much better. Low back was pretty lit up at this point though, feeling pretty stiff today too. Not injured by any means just tight.

Deads- 50% x 3 x 1

Stuck with 315 for 3 singles.

Sumos- 2 x 3

405, 455

Finished up with some kettlebell swings and curl ups.

Randall is turning out to be a good training partner. When I first met him I would’ve described him as more of a bodybuilder but he’s getting more into powerlifting now and is squatting with me every week. Smart kid, coachable and motivated. Nice to have another like-minded person around and it has really helped complete our group when everyone is there.
