28 Jul Dan Dalenberg | Week 5 | SQ/DL
Training for the XPC/RPS Atlantic City meet on August 29th. I will be lifting raw with wraps at 242.
Really good atmosphere in the gym tonight. Will and I are both less than 5 weeks out at this point so he was hitting some big squats, I think he took his planned 2nd attempt for 2 singles. I think the two years that I have been training with him this has to be the best I have seen a training cycle go. Dain is quite a ways out from a meet but pulled a mid 700 off blocks. Looking pretty strong. He is planning on lifting at the Arnold XPC next March and I think could be a good contender at that meet.
Now for my training…
Squat-Â Deload: 420 for 4 singles
Deads-Â Opener, RB 2nd and 3rd
Took 640 for a pretty easy opener and then reverse band 700 and 730. 730 got a little slow at lock out but generally went really well. I’ve found that with the way I set up the bands, I am typically able to squat and pull within 5-10 pounds of my reverse band work at the meet. I’d love to pull 725+ in Atlantic City.
Being 5 weeks out my assistance work is even shorter than normal. Usually I would have done some pause squatting but my hips are a little beat and needed a break. Finished up with the McGill 3 and some banded hamstring curls. My assistance stuff will probably continue to look like this until the meet. Things are starting to wind down with only a couple big sessions left. Its getting close to time to rest and heal.
Bodyweight is right where I want it to be. Waking up at 253 and feeling good.
