Dan Dalenberg | Week 7 | Bench

Training for the XPC/RPS Atlantic City meet on August 29th. I will be lifting raw with wraps at 242.

Some better benching this week.

Bench- Plan was to take an opener and then slingshot 2nd attempt

Worked up to 465 planned opener. It moved smooth, harder than I’d like but smooth. Given that I haven’t had this much in my hands since RUM I think, I’m happy with how this moved.

I think I need to reevaluate my bench training a bit. Training “light” on the squat and pull has been hugely successful for me but not so much on the bench. However, whenever I push the bench hard avoiding injury is difficult. Pec strains, tendinitis, etc get be a big problem. I’m glad to be consistent and benching right around 500 pounds for the last 2 years, but to get to where I want to go this number needs to go up.

Based on how the 465 moved I took 485 with the slanger next. Pretty easy and good for confidence.

2 Board Press- 3 x 8, 3 sets at 315

100 rep circuit of pec fly, pressdowns and band pull a parts.
