11 Feb Dan Dalenberg | What’s Next?
Currently in off-season mode, trying to lose my Bloat King status, look better for my wedding and build a denser, better put together self.
The Next 4 weeks
I’m getting married in less than a month in Florida on the beach. Then Mexico for our honeymoon right afterwards. I really don’t want to be all bloated and gross for that. I’m super strong at 250-255 but look like the Michelin Man.
So Scott Paltos is helping me out. He is writing my diet and training until the wedding with the goal of leaning out as much as possible. This week is all about recovery and getting a good sweat. Diet is pretty simple, less calories overall and much less carbs. Basically a carb backloading scheme this week. I actually really enjoy this. I spent 4 years lifting as a 181-198 and ate a very strict diet at the time. I decided I wanted to be much bigger and stronger and ate my way to 250. I’m only 5’6″ so 250 takes an obscene amount of eating to stay there.
I won’t be stage ready in 4 weeks but I do expect to come down nicely.
My current savior keeping me feeling full is GamePlan Whey mixed with peanut butter. Mixes so well and tastes great. Pick some up here:
After That
Plan is to transition into a more traditional off-season in late March. I plan on doing what I wrote up at the end of last year. I had an off season written but then found out I was going to RUM and changed plans. What I wrote is still applicable and should help me build a bigger total.
From a diet standpoint I will likely continue working with Scott and have him help build me back up. I’d like to come back up to 245-250 but more solid.
Next Meet
Planning on something in late summer. Casey and I talked after the meet on Sunday and I told him I want to go head to head with him. Right now he is stronger than me and it is super fun for me to lift against guys like that. I’d rather battle it out with Casey than go to a local meet and win by 400 pounds.
I’m going to need to get significantly better before I have a real chance of beating him but I look forward to chasing him and his nearly 2100 total.
