I’m currently in contest prep for the 2017 Arnold Classic XPC Finals. I will be lifting multi-ply at 242. My training is being written and guided by Brian Carroll.
This week is a moderate deload. Still in some gear but the weights are very light.
1. Squat- 5 singles @ 60%
Briefs only.
We went up to 425 and did the singles there. Close enough. It should have been a bit heavier, but I needed a deload pretty bad on the squat so I sandbagged it.
2. Deads- 5 singles @ 60%
This got pretty interesting. I was curious if I could pull in both my suit and briefs so I decided to give it a shot. I figured this was as good a time as any since the weights were light. If it felt horrible, I would abandon it.
But it didn’t feel bad. In fact it felt awesome. It was a little harder to get to the bar but not too bad. I had my straps pulled tighter and tighter each set and ended with what I would considered “meet day tightness.”
Side note- we use RPE to describe strap tightness. A 10 is PR 3rd attempt, cranked as tight as possible. I started this at a “6” and ended at a 9.
Tons of support off the floor, I really liked how it felt. I’m going to run with this for now and see how the next couple of weeks treat me.
The whole setup
Inzer Predators, 2 ply, grid stitched
Inzer Fusion, 2 ply rear, 1 ply front. Velcro straps. Back side grid stitched all the way up the straps.
13mm Forever lever belt
Accessories
1 leg GM
Core work for time
