Danny Vega – Off Season Week 4 – Floor pressing and stuff

I am currently in off season mode. Over the next 4 months I will be focusing on building my bench and working on some weak points until I start meet prep for next May’s RPS Redemption meet. I will be competing raw with wraps in the 242 weight class.

I floor pressed on my son’s birthday. We went to Disney afterand walked over 6 miles, and being the old fart that I am, I was beat up the next day. I decided not to squat this week. In the past, my OCD wouldn’t have let me skip a workout, but this being the off season, and my knee being the way it is, it was the smart choice.

I’m dying to squat heavier but I need to figure out how to manage this patellofemoral pain in my left knee. I have a magnetic strap that I’ve been wearing daily. I think it’s helping. Other than that I want to look into patellofemoral taping to see if it helps take some pressure off. If I can fix this, I will pretty much be 100% as everything else feels great.

Floor press 45×20, 135×8, 175×5, 205×4, 225×4, 265×1, 285×4, 305×4, 325×4, 345×4. These were all easy. I’m getting better at them.

Standing OHP 195×5, 210×7, 220×6. These are moving great. No pain and I’m feeling strong.

3 board close grip 315×5, 330×5

One arm cable extensions 70×15, 70×20, 60×25

DB rear raise 2×20@25
