19 Oct Danny Vega – Raw United meet prep – 1st and 2nd attempts & deload squats
I am training for the Raw United meet on November 7th in Tampa, FL. I will be competing raw with wraps in the 220 weight class.
Last week was a disaster. I had hoped that I would be recovered from the Samson games, but I decided to hit first and second attempts instead of deloading. It was a calculated risk which could go either way. This time it failed. I felt beat up all week.
Monday I worked up to my opener (605) and 2nd attempt (645). I felt good on both thankfully.
Wednesday was bench. I hit my opener slow (365) and just missed my second attempt (395). I was furious and left the gym after that.
Thursday I hit my deadlift opener (635) and just missed my second attempt (705) as I tore a callus and lost it close to lockout. I will adjust my second attempt and go for a modest pr on the third attempt. Slow progress is better than no progress.
Today’s squats felt good. I felt tight and the speed was good.
Squat 55*10, 145*6, 195*5, 235*4, 285*3, 325*2, 6*1@375
SSB Pause squats 225*5, 275*5, 315*5
Backward sled drags x100 yards
Leg curls 3*15
