02 Oct Lab Rat – More Geared Lifting
I’m currently in an offseason training cycle after competing at RPS Redemption in Ft. Myers May 30th. I ended up lifting in the 275’s vs. the planned 242. I achieved a 1610lb total via 580 squat, 440 bench and 590 deadlift. Best numbers at 242 were 550, 425, 575 for 1550. I don’t have a meet on the horizon yet but there are several goals in mind.
My first 10 week block of off season training came to and end and the next block will be kicking off this coming weekend. Last week and this week have been a combination of a deload (driven by the desire to finish my car), having fun and assisting fellow teammates with breaking in more gear for the RPS South Florida Conquest.
Last Saturday started with a few rounds of the McGill Big 3, KB swings and a few sets with an empty buffalo bar.
Squats
- 2 x 5 w/ 145
- 235 x 5
- 325 x 3
- 375 x 2
- 415 x 2
Bench
- 2 x 8 w/ 135
- 225 x 5
- 275 x 3
- Shirt added 315 x 4
- 365 x 4 (3 board)
- 405 x 4 (3 board)
- 455 x 3 (2 board)
- 495 x 3 (2 board)
- 495 x 1 (1 board)
Working in a shirt has been very eye opening to the challenge of mastering it. Maybe it’s time to commit more time to transitioning into geared lifting, time will tell.
