Any thoughts on the Reverse Hyper?
Yes or No? Good for low back strengthening?
Doug,
I took a few days to really think about this one. To piggy Back on what Brian said, it truly depends. At my gym we are judicious with you we use it, as I feel most lifters do not have the pelvic and hip control to truly get any benefit from it. I am not against it, in fact done properly and with the right athlete, you can see a tremendous benefit. I was properly trained how to use it here in Miami at Idolmaker and found that it helped me early on in my lifting career but as my spine worsened and I developed disc/nerve issues, it currently only triggers pain for me. In my experience, I would determine its use based on the level of athlete, their body awareness, current pain or injury triggers, and the cost to benefit ratio of adding a new movement to the regiment. As in all things spine extension and flexion related, choose wisely and it’s very subjective.
Hope this helps,
MDLP
