14 Sep Rule #2
Rule #2
I have two hard and fast rules.
1) Don’t be stupid
2) Have a plan.
I’m pretty good at rule 1, although at times my wife may disagree. Life has a way of forcing our plans to change. Originally I was set to compete at Atlantic City with a good portion of the rest of the team. Life had other plans and I was unable to make it. I had already put into motion my offseason plans but with the AC meet coming and going, and realizing that I wasn’t yet qualified for the Arnold, those plans needed to change as well.
I’ve got my eye on the Dec. 12th Fayetteville, NC RPS meet. Training is still off season but I’ll be 10 weeks out very soon. We’re taking care of a few tweaks and aches but looking to be ready to hit the ground running hard when it happens. As a powerlifter, qualifying for the Arnold is priority one. Going step up and get that done. After that it’s a quick turnaround into another meet cycle for the Arnold itself. Got some work to do.
My training for today
Fat bar floor press:
Up to a heavy-ish triple (RPE 7) for 5 sets of 3
(top set was 265 assuming the bar weighs 45lbs, every bar weighs 45lbs right?)
DB incline press 4×15 70’s, 80’s, and 90’s but backed down to 80’s for last set (shoulder was wonky)
Finished out the rest of the workout with some shoulder and tricep stuff. Lots of work to be done here.
Team LCS’s training for today:
They’re 3 weeks out and finishing up their heaviest week.
Bench:
90% x1 to 1bd
95% x1 to 2bd
5lb PR x1 to 3bd
Back down to 90% to touch
Reverse band bench:
Heavy doubles in the RPE 9 range. Really excited to see how some of these guys turn out. Everybody is looking strong and healthy.
