Lab Rat – Pre Contest Week 8 Day 1

I’m training for the XPC Finals at the Arnold Sports Festival® March, 7, 2015.  I’ll be competing as a 242lb raw lifter looking to improve my best meet lifts of 575, 430 and 600.

We’re less than two weeks out from being slapped in the face by the sub zero temps of Columbus, can’t wait!  I just wrapped up the last heavy pre contest combo day on a great note.  In keeping our Saturday morning ritual alive and well a few members of Team Samson met for breakfast then made our way to the compound.  Warm ups consisted of the McGill Big 3 and KB swings.  We held a slower pace than usual on the lighter weights but got into a much better rhythm towards the middle of the session.

Squats

  • 150 3 x 5
  • 240 2 x 2
  • 350 x 1
  • 440 x 1
  • 510 x 1 (light wrap)
  • 550 x 1 (opener)
  • 600 x 1 (reverse band)
  • 625 x 1 (reverse band)

Deadlift

  • 245 2 x 2
  • 335 x 2
  • 445 x 2
  • 535 x 1

Today’s session felt really strong, heavy benching Monday evening then coasting into the Arnold.

Jason Kowalewski

Jason Kowalewski is an up and coming raw powerlifter residing in Jacksonville, Florida where he trains with Team Samson. Jason began training under Brian’s tutelage in February 2013. He was actually one of the initial test subjects, hence the name Lab Rat. Since then he has seen significant improvements on all lifts with his commitment to Brian and the 10/20/Life methodology. To date his best total is 1653.4lbs via 633.8lb squat, 435.4lb bench and 584.9lb deadlift at 242lbs.
