20 Nov Public Gyms Scare Me!
I drive 45 minutes each way to train at Team Samson. It is worth every minute of that drive, but time wise its not working out!
I am just kidding, I still squat, bench, and deadlift at Team Samson, but with how I set up my training for the next few weeks I needed a local place to get some extra work. The company my wife works for pays for a gym membership for both of us, so I figured why not! I mean I am just doing some upper back work, direct leg work, and some arm training. How much trouble could it really be?
Well of course when I get there, it is packed! So I go about my business and just get some light work in.
3×10 goblet squats
3×8 kb swings
5×5 straight bar rows
10×1 McGill pull ups
At this point I got all kinds of crazy looks, but nobody said anything. I could tell people had no clue what I was doing. Personally that is fine, because I had no clue what they were doing either! Well here is when it went south!
I wanted to do a few sets of curls, nothing crazy, just something to get some blood into my biceps. Well of course all the dumbbells I wanted to use were being used, and all the curl bars were being used. That is when I noticed a guy squatting 135 in the squat rack. I figured, what the hell! So I asked to join in with him. He told me he was doing 3×10, and I told him that was perfect because I was as well. I guess I probably should have told him I had planned on curling his squats.
3×10 straight bar curls
3×30 double arm hammer curls
