Has anyone had any experience with increased offseason reps? For example, instead of doing 5s 4s and 3s, use 10s, 8s, and 6s. Then maybe or maybe not taper those down to 5s, 4s, 3s. I just was not sure how to structure an offseason block to do that. Also, are there still plans for a 10/20/powerbuilding book?
Thanks!
Matt
Hello,
Yes, many have, but there is always more risk with doing more reps under load, as fatigue sets in. Everyone is different, and you might do fine with high reps, But I cannot. Same with others that have an injury history.
If you’re going to do that, make sure you have form locked in, and once it starts to be less than pristine, then I’d lower the reps and keep quality over quantity.
But again, high reps are not something I suggest for the strength athlete. Save this for your assistance work.
