Byrd: Big Benching, and Plans for Saturday!

Almost 3 weeks out, finally feeling a little healthy, and ready for the meet! This is my second run at the 275 class, and will be a much smaller weight cut. Right now I am sitting between 280-283 morning weight. At this point I am just ready to get to the platform and see what happens!

Monday’s bench session was a very important one for me. I had not tried to touch anything in training so far, and I had some trouble getting my opener down to the 1board last week. I knew the reason was just that I had a bad bar path, but those types of things can play mind games on you! After that I wanted to take a 2nd attempt either off the board or full range, and just a bigger number off the 2board.

Raw warm ups
bar x a lot
3×5 @ 140
2×5 @ 230
1×3 @ 320
shirt on
1×1 @ 520 3board
1×1 @ 610 2board
1×1 @ 680 1 board
1×1@ 735 opener
1×1@ 770 2nd attempt
1×1@ 830 2board

This were not smooth tonight, my transitions were not great, and overall I didnt feel great. To me though this was a great sign, because all those weights still moved well. I feel like I have a real shot at a very big bench and total this meet if my body will hold together for a few more weeks.
