Byrd: Big Squat On The Way! 9 weeks out

Finally broke the 2,500 total mark at the Arnold, but like any lifter I feel there is more left in the tank. Focusing on some offseason goals which include gaining some weight to fill out the 275 class, improving my bench, adjusting some form issues on the squat, and adding more upper back size. The next 8 weeks will focus on raw work and speed. I feel like if I can get those things accomplished I will be looking at another PR total come meet time.

Its time to get my ass going! I feel much more focused than I have in a long time. I am healthy, and ready to put together a big total. I have my eyes set on the South Florida Conquest hosted by Burt and Mindy Underwood. There are a handful of 275 lifters lifting at the meet, and of course I wanted to join the party. I have some high hopes of a really big total, but only time will tell if that comes about!

Squat day.
Raw up to 500
briefs on
600×1
700×1
suit on, straps up
800×1
900×1

Everything moved fast, and was really happy with how things felt. Being 9 weeks out this is a big confidence boost for me and really makes me feel like my offseason has paid off. I still need to work on sitting back, and improving depth some. That will always be the case though, and its not something I typically worry about this far out. I have always managed to get to depth on meet day.
