Byrd: Rehab and Tattoos

Things have been pretty rough since the Arnold, I will be detailing it all through a few articles in the next few weeks. Injuries on top of personal issues and health problems, makes training a bit difficult. The back injury has pretty much made me useless these days. I guess that will make this log pretty boring over the next few weeks, but who doesn’t love a comeback story?

Squat day

Lots of warm ups, stretching, McGill big 3

Kb swings
goblet squats
single leg good mornings

Then I attempted to do a set of squats with the SSB at 150lbs or so, yeah that did not go well! Felt a sharp pain right into the back, immediately put the bar back in the rack and had to sit down. Looks like I still have a long way to go. Good news is that I don’t have any day to day pain right now, so things are looking up slightly.

I was able to get in with a chiropractor that was suggested by multiple members of Team Samson for Monday afternoon.

Now for the tattoos part!

I have been training at Team Samson for just over two years now. Since then I have hit PRs in every lift, added 70lbs to my total, and dropped a weight class. There are several members of the gym who currently have the Team Samson logo tattooed on them. Adam, Brian, Clint, and Tony. I am not sure if there are anymore running around. I have been “encouraged” for the last year to get mine done, and finally got it done. I really owe a lot of my success as a lifter to both Brian and Adam. If Adam was not willing to let me join Team Samson, and provide a place for me I would probably be done lifting. Thank you! Over the next few weeks the plan is to get a half sleeve on my right on, to cover up the crappy Super B on my arm.
