27 Apr Byrd: Training goals for the week
Finally broke the 2,500 total mark at the Arnold, but like any lifter I feel there is more left in the tank. Focusing on some offseason goals which include gaining some weight to fill out the 275 class, improving my bench, adjusting some form issues on the squat, and adding more upper back size. The next 8 weeks will focus on raw work and speed. I feel like if I can get those things accomplished I will be looking at another PR total come meet time.
[wa-wps]This week I will be turning things up a little bit. There will still be more raw work, but I am going to separate my squat and deadlift into two separate days for a few weeks. I am looking forward to working some stuff off of blocks with my dead, and focusing on getting some size on my legs with some heavier raw squats. My raw strength and size has come along well, and I feel like it will pay off with my equipped lifts.
Right now the plan is to compete full power in August or October, and maybe a bench meet in July. I would really like to compete on the main stage at the Arnold in the bench bash. That has been a goal for years, and with a little luck maybe I can make that happen this year.
So the question is, do I use wraps of sleeves this week? I will decide on Saturday morning.
