02 Feb Squats and Deadlifts 5 Weeks Out: Byrd
Currently training for the XPC Finals at the Arnold. Working my body weight up to 290lbs and making the cut down to 275 class. I will use the protocols from Brian’s Manual“CUTTING WEIGHT”
[wa-wps]As always I am fighting off nagging injuries from my past years of complete dumb ass training. This maybe the first time in 3 years that I can call myself healthy (by powerlifting standards).
We are not in the meat of the training cycle. Finally time to push the numbers and get a real idea of attempts, as well as making final adjustments. This is the time where you must truly be dialed in and focused. I am doing my best to eliminate outside distractions as well as getting in enough food to both recover and add weight. Squats felt great this week, and I was shocked by how quickly the deads moved. This is the first time pulling heavy off the floor this cycle. I have had some great success with this in the past, and it seems to have paid off again.
