Zane Geeting, Back at it after a little lay off

My last meet was the 2018 XPC Finals at the Arnold Classic Sports Festival where I totaled 1710@198 raw with wraps. Since the meet I’ve been very busy with work and the farm, because of this training has been very limited. I’m now getting back in the groove of things after doing very little for the past month or so.

Where to start? Well, Tuesday (my wife) did an RPS meet at River City Barbell a few weeks back, she went 300/135/345 for 780@148 raw with wraps. This was her third meet and I was very proud of her performance, with a few tweaks I think she’ll hit an elite total later this year.

Since the meet we’ve been very busy on the farm; pregnant pigs, piglets, hogs going to the butcher, new laying hens, turkeys, etc. My job has also been crazy with a lot of late nights and picking up slack for some other departments that are short handed at the moment. The long hours haven’t left much time for the gym, but I have managed to get in at least one day per week. Some of the more recent lifts I’ve done have been 480 for a few raw triples on squat, 305×5 with a football bar on the bench, and 545×5 on the deadlift. It’s looking like I should be back to getting in at least 2 sessions per week in the coming weeks, so I’ll be focusing on the lower day/upper day split as per the usual. I’ll have weekly log updates with video, as well as some explanations of what I’m doing, why I’m doing it, and how it coincides with my schedule.

As of now the plan is to rotate heavy squat/deadlift weeks, and to bench 2-3 weeks on, with a deload week on the 3rd or 4th week. I’ll be focusing on bringing my upper back strength/size back up as it’s really suffered this past year, and I feel is responsible for the decline in my deadlift from the 700’s back into the 600’s. No plans on when/where I’ll compete again, but it will be relatively soon, no later than the WPO in November.

So that’s that, just a quick update. Stay tuned from here.

Zane Geeting

Zane Geeting is a pro multi-ply powerlifter with best lifts of a 935 squat, 625 bench, and 765 deadlift. He is coming back to competitive PL after a year and a half layoff that was a result of several serious injuries including a severe rupture of the right pec that could not be repaired. Zane has an extremely busy schedule that would make most people quit before Friday. He works 55+ hours a week as a finance manager. As a renaissance man, he is also currently restoring a 140 year-old farmhouse and maintaining a hobby farm. Despite all this, Zane still finds time to train 2-3 times per week, as well as coach other lifters.
