Zane Geeting, Sunday afternoon floor press

I’m currently training to make my comeback to the platform for the XPC finals at the Arnold Classic, this March. Its been close to 2 years since I’ve posted a total, and I’m looking to change that.

This was the second day of my deload week. The good news is that I’m feeling recuperated for the most part. The bad news is that my left hip/glute area is much worse off than I had thought. There is definitely some kind of pull/strain in there and I can’t quite pinpoint what it is. I do know that its a problem that I need to address and that this is inopportune timing. So, I have ART scheduled for Wed night. I’ll update things after I get it done.

Here’s what my bench deload day looked like:

Warm up

Scarecrows

Fat man rows and push ups

Side laterals

DB cleans

Push downs

Floor press

warmed up to 235x5x3 sets

DB incline press

warm up set, then 80’s x10x2 sets

Rope pushdowns

3 sets of 10 up to 80×10

Band flys

100 total reps with a light band

Band pull aparts

100 total reps with a light band

– That was the end of the session. There was a little tightness in the front delt on the bad pec side during the incline DB pressing, but nothing of concern. Overall I feel good for where I’m at in the training cycle.

As I said above, update on the hip/glute and also lat later on this week after ART. I will test the lat a little more on Tuesday night when I do my typical deadlift accessory night.

He is coming back to competitive PL after a year and a half layoff that was a result of several serious injuries including a severe rupture of the right pec that could not be repaired. Zane has an extremely busy schedule that would make most people quit before Friday. He works 55+ hours a week as a finance manager. As a renaissance man, he is also currently restoring a 140 year-old farmhouse and maintaining a hobby farm. Despite all this, Zane still finds time to train 2-3 times per week, as well as coach other lifters.
