Zane Geeting, Training for the week of 1/2/2016

I apologize for getting a week behind here. Everything will be caught up this coming week. Nevertheless there was not a single session missed in the log for those of you who care enough to follow. I’m currently training for the XPC finals at the Arnold Classic sports festival. I’ll be looking to best my PR total in the 220 weight class which is currently 2175.

This was a short week, but I did get in some good squatting before taking a hard deload.

1/2/2016, Saturday afternoon squat training.

This was a fun session, we had a couple more guys than usual since they were in town for the holiday’s. It was good to see them and catch up a bit. My plan for the day was to squat some sets of 8 in a belt or belt and sleeves, at an RPE of 8 or so for the top set. This would be followed by a deload week, then I’d be back in gear for the Arnold meet prep. My strength is great right now, just need to get acclimated to the gear. Here’s how the session went:

Warm up

McGill big 3

Squat

150×10, 240×10, 330×8, 420×8, 440×8, 460×8

These all felt great

Leg press

3 sets of 15 reps

Hamstring curls

3 sets of 15 reps

Reverse hyper

3 sets of 15 reps

Calve raises

3 sets of 20 reps.

  • That was basically it for the week. I took a hard deload for the rest of it. Stayed home on my training days, did some light stretching and rested up. There was no real reason for this other than I felt it was what my body needed at the time. Its not very often that I don’t want to go to the gym, but this was one of those weeks, so that’s exactly what I did.

As a renaissance man, he is also currently restoring a 140 year-old farmhouse and maintaining a hobby farm.
