Zane Geeting, Tuesday night deadlift accessories

I’m currently training to make my comeback to the platform for the XPC finals at the Arnold Classic, next month. It’s been close to 2 years since I’ve posted a total, and its time to change that.

I’m still rehabbing the lat that I injured while pulling 705 at Dan’s meet, a few weeks back. This means I’m still not deadlifting, but I am able to get in some decent upper back work in the form of a deadlift accessory night. I’m trying to increase the weights I’m using little by little, week to week. Here’s how it went this week…

Warm up

BW squat

Bird dogs

McGill’s

Glute bridges

Fat man rows and push ups

Static stretching

Full body. I normally don’t do this before I train, but I knew I wasn’t going to be moving heavy weights

Pendlay row

3 sets of 10, up to 205×10

One arm DB row

2 sets of 15 ea. arm, 100 lb. DB’s

Seated cable row

2 sets of 15, up to 180×15

DB shrugs

2 sets of 25 with 100’s

Hammer curls

4 sets of 10, up to 60’s

– That was the end of it. Overall a good session, the weights increased on everything and there was little irritation to the injured lat. I normally work these pendlay rows in the 365-405 range, to give you an idea of where I’m at in the recovery stage. I’m going in Wed night to have ART done on the lats and glutes. I’ll make a post on how things are feeling in the next few days

https://1020life.gameplan.com – Check out Game Plan Nutrition’s full line of supplements. I’ve been using several of their products with great results. I especially like the chocolate whey, its all natural, mixes well, and tastes very good for a protein shake with a main ingredient of whey isolate. Top notch stuff.

Zane Geeting is a pro multi-ply powerlifter with best lifts of a 935 squat, 625 bench, and 765 deadlift. He is coming back to competitive PL after a year and a half layoff that was a result of several serious injuries including a severe rupture of the right pec that could not be repaired. Zane has an extremely busy schedule that would make most people quit before Friday. He works 55+ hours a week as a finance manager. As a renaissance man, he is also currently restoring a 140 year-old farmhouse and maintaining a hobby farm. Despite all this, Zane still finds time to train 2-3 times per week, as well as coach other lifters.
