Brian Carroll: Offeason Week 7 Squat/DL Training with Video

Thanks to CaptainJacked.com and Inzernet.com for supporting TeamPRS and PowerRackStrength.com!

After 3 months of lackluster (or lack thereof) training post Arnold win, I’m following the offseason Combo template straight out of the 10/20/Life book for the next 10 weeks. The only modifications I’m making is lower reps with the squat and deadlift, but normal higher (4/5) reps with bench (when necessary). I’ll make up the total volume on my assistance work concerning the squat/DL. I have no meet plans in at this time.

Normal Warm-up
A. Band fly/Band shoulder dislocation
B. McGill big 3
C. Goblet squat
D. Empty bar x20

Saturday 7.29.17
Goals for squat (test out belt squat) and pull: pull a little more thn last week, at an RPE of 7
Squat: Many sets testing out the belt squat. I love it!
Dead: top set of 500×1 vs the 455 last week
Assistance:
B. One leg GM: 3×10
C. Suitcase carry: 70lbs KB for 200 yards per side
C. Stir the pot: 80

Great session. Danny Bellmore is such a great guy that he let Samson borrow his belt squat machine- thank you, Danny! This landed last week and was set-up on Saturday, so being in offseason, we gave it a test run. I think this piece of equipment will be great for attacking weak points without beating up the back too bad. I plan on using this 2x per week: squat/dl day with pause squats post main movement (maybe box squats) and then on squat/dl assistance day for pistons. I know there are a million uses, but this is where I will start.

Deads felt good but I’m a long way from home. I’ll keep chipping away during this offseason and will be back before you know it.

Like I’ve posted about, I have a lot of travel coming up, starting this week but I will stay as locked in as feasible for an offseason and will continue to make improvements each week. I’ll be missing a little bit of training and will probably start my offseason cycle completely over when I return from Mexico and re-evaluate since I will be at a much better starting point than I was back in June.

One thing I must do before the summer is over is get blood work done. This is something I have put off for a bit.

I think we all saw this one coming. But I figured faster and not so brutal of a finish. It was hard to watch this and all that happened after.
